Our beloved pets
Our pets become part of the family. They are our co-workers, partners in crime, loyal companions... our best friends. We make so many memories with our pets. When they're gone, we want to celebrate the joy that they brought into our lives by memorializing them. Pet cremation has become a popular option for end of life care for our four legged friends.
Which pets can be cremated?
Dog and cat cremation are the most common; however, you can cremate nearly any pet: birds, rabbits, hamsters, reptiles, pigs, goats, horses, etc. At our facility, we can accommodate pets up to 300 lbs. For cost, see Our Services and Prices page.
Is it better to bury or cremate my pet?
This will be personal for everyone; there is no right or wrong option. You might consider cost, effort required, availability of yard space for burial (consider local laws as well), or if you are likely to move in the future. Here are some PROS for each option:

Burial PROS
Ultimately, the choice is yours! If you decide to cremate, we at Staker Animal Cremations are dedicated to performing respectful cremation services and returning the ashes of your pet and only your pet. We also love to add custom laser engravings to your urn so you can memorialize your beloved pet. We can also engrave a custom name and/or image on our keepsake jewelry. We have loved serving Eastern Idaho pet owners for the past 10 years.
- Cremation is a way to honor your pet and give your family time to pay tribute.
- If you move, your pet's ashes can be taken with you. (With burial you would be separated from your pet's final resting place and they could subject to disturbance by other animals or natural disasters.)
- Multiple options once you receive your pet's remains; custom urn tailored to your pet's memory or personality, spread ashes in a favorite place, plant a tree in honor of your pet with their ashes, turn ashes into jewelry, etc.
- Cremation is an excellent option in winter months when the ground is frozen or covered in snow.
- Cremation can be more practical for owners with a large pet where burial would be difficult or they may not have the space
- If you aren't physically capable of burying your pet, you can choose to have the crematorium pick him/her up from your home for cremation.
- Some owners may prefer cremation because the thought of handling their beloved pet's body is too distressing.
Burial PROS
- Burying your pet in the backyard ensures they remain close and allows you to conveniently visit their final resting place.
- Cost is generally cheaper than cremation.
